Advisory Board

The Advisory Board consists of the Board of Directors and the following volunteers:

Ronald Boos

Ron lives in Asheville, North Carolina and works as a Maintenance Systems Specialist at an industrial automotive plastics molding factory.  After retiring from the Marine Corps, he attended North Carolina A&T University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health and Safety.

During the 3 years immediately following service, Ron fell into the trap of inactivity, gaining weight, losing health and fitness.  Since gaining a new passion for physical activity he has completed many road, trail, and obstacle course races of various lengths from 5k to 50k. He recently set his sights on triathlon, hoping to complete a Full Ironman distance soon.

Ron and his wife currently trade off training time while raising 4 of their 5 children, their eldest is Active Duty in the Air Force, and generally enjoy completing challenges together.

T’Sean Laws

T’Sean lives in Abington, Pennsylvania (outside of Philadelphia) and works as an IT Project Manager. He attended Temple University and studied Marketing and Finance. In addition, T’Sean has several certifications for Agile Project Management. His passions include traveling, cooking, sports, and spending time with family.

T’Sean discovered running later in life, while training with several colleagues for a 5K in support of raising funds for the Sarcoma Foundation of America.  As a result of this experience, he found his stride with the sport. He has since completed three 10-mile races and three half marathons. T’Sean’s goal for the foundation is to educate people that running is accessible to everyone, regardless of fitness and skill level.

Katy Mayo

Katy Mayo lives in Whitman, MA and owns her own software training company working with a variety of clients across the country. As a trainer, Katy combines technical and subject matter expertise to provide on-site training from front-line employees to high in the C-suite. Katy has provided training to companies in a number of different industries.

In 2014, she set out to finish one 5K. It seemed like a monumental task at the time, but since then she has completed four Marine Corps Marathons! Currently, she is enjoying running for the sake of running! Katy wants to help the foundation in helping others realize anything is possible when it comes to physical accomplishments.

Mike Romans

Mike Romans is a relative newcomer to endurance sports, but is not new to the concept of helping people. Mike is a husband, father of 4 (for now), teacher, firefighter, and also has been a foster parent for over 5 years.

Mike has dabbled in running since college, doing many local 5k’s and charity runs. However, the word “run” was only on the advertisement. After a brief stint in competitive bodybuilding, Mike was bitten by the triathlon bug in 2017 with a local charity triathlon. To speak of Mike’s
go-getting personality, he signed up for the tri before knowing how to swim or having a bike.

On the horizon, Mike is staring down 2 Ironman 70.3 races this summer along with a half marathon and several small triathlons. Mike has coined the phrase ‘racecation’ and will rarely pass up a fun race with accommodations that his family can enjoy.

Erin Shepherd

Erin Shepherd lives in Broken Arrow (Tulsa), Oklahoma, and works as a Deaf Educator in Tulsa Public Schools.  Erin has a severe-profound hearing loss and is fluent in both English and American Sign Language. She completed her undergraduate degree in Deaf Education from the University of Tulsa, and her Masters of Education in Reading from Northeastern State University.  Her passion is the education and literacy needs of students who are Deaf and hard of hearing.

Erin started running 5Ks in April of 2016, and fell in love with the sport.  Now, a 3x marathoner and Olympic-distance triathlete, Erin has her sights set on the half and full distance IRONMAN races. Erin’s goal in working with the Foundation is to show that disabilities are not limiting, and back of the pack athletes are just as capable as anyone else!

Laura Stebbins

Jon White

Jon White splits his time between NYC and Cortlandt Manor with his partner Jonathan. He received his B.S. in Business Administration from Manhattan College and after spending over twenty years in Merchandise and Regional Planning for Bloomingdale’s, Barney’s New York and Lord & Taylor, he is taking some time to focus on personal projects, spend time with family, volunteer locally and do some extensive travelling.

After suffering spinal injuries in two accidents while in high school and another in his early 40’s, Jon is familiar with the challenges of recovery as well as starting over.

While still managing through some setbacks from his third spinal surgery, Jon continues elevate the bar on his fitness and health goals. Although he has not competed in any races yet, he is confident that will happen soon. Jon is stoked to be part of this team and exited to move forward together.
